Quantum information science deals with methods to characterize, transmit, and process information encoded by quantum systems. The birth of this new multidisciplinary science has led to an enormous growth of interest in several physical systems due to their potential application in quantum computation as well as quantum communication.
The mission of the Brazilian National Institute for Science and Technology of Quantum Information (INCT-IQ) is to promote fundamental research, which may lead to the development of new quantum computation and communication technologies.
