Return to 🪞The Quantum Mirror: Auditing Artificial Intelligence

🤔Prompts: The Art of Inquiry with AI

There is no “correct” way to use AI in this course. There is only analyzable use.
A prompt is how we formulate a question or request to an Artificial Intelligence system. More than a simple command, it expresses a way of thinking: it defines objectives, frames problems, and makes explicit the kind of intellectual engagement we are seeking.

In the Quantum Mirror Project, the quality of an AI’s response is fundamentally tied to the quality of the prompt. Vague questions tend to produce generic answers; well-structured prompts favor explanations that are clearer, more contextualized, and pedagogically useful.

In this course, prompts are not treated as shortcuts to ready-made answers, but as deliberate cognitive tools. They help students organize ideas, articulate uncertainties, test interpretations, and compare different ways of explaining the same concept. In doing so, interaction with AI becomes an exercise in structured reasoning rather than passive consumption.

Prompts as Metacognitive Instruments

Using prompts consciously allows students to:
• Explore multiple explanatory frameworks for the same concept
• Reveal gaps, ambiguities, and limits in their own intuition
• Compare their personal mental models with AI-generated reasoning
• Transform the AI from an answer engine into a dialogical partner

Learning how to formulate good prompts is therefore an integral part of the learning process—especially in a conceptually demanding field such as Quantum Mechanics, where asking the right question is often as important as finding the correct solution.

Prompts within the Quantum Mirror Architecture

Within this course, prompts play a central methodological role in the Quantum Mirror Project. They are systematically used to:
Stimulate metacognition, encouraging students to reflect on how their understanding evolves
Support S/C comparison, making explicit the contrast between autonomous reasoning (without AI) and AI-mediated reflection
Investigate algorithmic response patterns, examining how variations in question formulation affect clarity, depth, and reliability of explanations

Throughout the semester, we make available:
• Prompts used by the professor
• Prompt suggestions and templates for students
• Discussions of variations and adaptations, highlighting their pedagogical consequences

The objective is not to standardize thinking, but to make the human–AI dialogue explicit, transparent, and auditable.

Core Principle: The Reflective Interface

Artificial Intelligence does not replace physical reasoning or conceptual mastery. In the Quantum Mirror Project, AI functions as a cognitive interface: its responses reflect the clarity, structure, and assumptions embedded in our questions.

By critically auditing these reflections—their insights, limitations, and biases—students gain deeper understanding not only of Quantum Mechanics, but also of their own thinking processes.

The prompts presented here are not recommended standards, but documentary examples of a process under investigation. Their effectiveness — or limitations — is part of what this course seeks to understand.
This project is designed to make errors, distortions, and limitations visible.
