It has revealed how atoms function, interact, and can be organized to create materials with extraordinary properties. This knowledge underpins virtually all contemporary technology: from transistors to smartphones, from GPS to molecular medicine, from computing to space exploration.

Yet, Quantum Mechanics is notoriously abstract and starkly counterintuitive. This course proposes a different path: we will confront this challenge explicitly by using Artificial Intelligence not merely as an assistant, but as a dialogical interlocutor that helps us reflect on our very own learning process.

We invite you to use AIs freely as cognitive mirrors: to develop physical intuition, clarify concepts, solve problems, test hypotheses, and, most importantly, to observe how your own understanding evolves when confronted with different explanations and perspectives.

🪞 The “Quantum Mirror” Project

This pedagogical experiment—named by the AIs themselves—investigates:

· How AI transforms learning processes in quantum physics.

· How different explanations reveal our conceptual biases and resistances.

· How to document our intellectual journey through reflective journals.

· How to integrate AI critically and responsibly into advanced learning.

📊 Our Assessment System

We adopt a 70/30 system reflecting our core philosophy:

· 70% – Traditional Assessment (WITHOUT AI): Demonstration of autonomous conceptual mastery.

· 30% – Critical Analysis (WITH AI): Structured reflection on errors, the learning process, and the conscious use of technology.

Following each test and exam, you will use specific templates to document:

1. How you used (or did not use) AI in your study.

2. How you analyzed conceptual errors with AI’s dialogical support.

3. How your understanding evolved through this process.

🤝 Our Mutual Commitment

As your professor, I will:

· Prepare materials that function both with and without AI.

· Analyze how different approaches shape quantum intuition.

· Guide your reflective journals as maps of conceptual development.

· Provide structured templates for learning documentation.

· Act as a conceptual curator, ensuring scientific rigor.

As students, you are invited to:

· Experiment with ways to interact critically with AIs.

· Record insights, confusions, and moments of conceptual clarity.

· Compare AI explanations with your own intuitions.

· Participate actively in building this educational experiment.

· Maintain unwavering intellectual honesty regarding AI use.

🎯 Why This Approach?

Artificial Intelligence is already part of our academic and professional reality. Rather than ignore or fight it, we propose to incorporate it critically and consciously into learning. This is not about replacing human thought, but about amplifying it through dialogue with systems that offer multiple perspectives on the same concepts.

Crucially, AI is not infallible. A key part of your learning will be to discern when it helps, when it hinders, and how to identify reliable information.

🔍 What We Hope to Discover Together

Throughout this semester, we will investigate:

· What types of questions generate the most useful explanations?

· How can AI reveal (and not just resolve) our conceptual difficulties?

· In what ways do different AIs approach the same quantum problems?

· How do we document our evolving grasp of this counterintuitive universe?

· How does critical thinking about technology develop alongside physical reasoning?

📝 What We Have Prepared for You

· Lectures structured with focused “AI Moments”.

· Specific templates for tests and exams.

· Reflective journals for continuous documentation.

· Paired activities (with/without AI) for comparison.

· Space for experimentation with diverse pedagogical approaches.

Welcome to this dual journey: learning Quantum Mechanics while learning about your own learning. Bring your curiosity, your intellectual resistance, and your willingness to explore frontiers—both in physics and in education.

With scientific and pedagogical enthusiasm,

Professor Marco A.
