Driven by novel materials and microfabrication technology, these topics have jumped out of research labs and led us to a new era in telecommunication, timekeeping, computation and life-sciences. The confinement and control of light propagation at sub-wavelength scales enabled by micro and nano-scale photonic devices is driving the next step in this revolution.<\/p>\n<p>At the joint S\u00e3o Paulo School of Advanced Science on Nanophotonics and XV Jorge Andre Swieca School on Nonlinear and Quantum optics, a group of 50 international and 50 Brazilian students will be selected to join two weeks of intense lectures and experimental courses thought by leading experts on nanophotonics, nonlinear optics and quantum optics.<\/p>\n<p>The selected students will have most of their expenses covered, including lodging and economic airfare. Students will take basic and advanced theoretical and experimental courses on a range of topics, and discuss their research accomplishments in a poster session.
