I did my BSc at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (Belo Horizonte, Brazil, 1984), my MSc at the State University of Campinas (Campinas, Brazil, 1988) and my PhD at Rutgers University (Piscataway, NJ, USA, 1994), all of them in Physics. I did a post-doc at the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory (Tallahassee, FL, USA, 1994-1997). I have been a professor at the State University of Campinas since July 1997 and full professor since 2010. I work on Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics, mainly in the following areas: strongly correlated systems, disordered systems, heavy fermion systems, magnetism, superconductivity and the metal-insulator transitions.
