Research

Atomic and Molecular Physics, specially cooling and trapping of neutral atoms in magneto-optical traps, and ultrafast phenomena.  Specific topics include: spectroscopy of cold atoms; creation of non-classic states in diatomic molecules and Rydberg atoms, particularly the excitation and quantum control of vibrational and electronic wave-packet dynamics; electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) in atomic vapor.

Current projects include the investigation of coherent accumulation of excitation of diatomic molecules by a train of ultrashort pulses, EIT of a train of ultrashort pulses, electromagnetically-induced phase grating, and nonlinear optics at low light levels.
