Abner de Siervo is an Associate Professor of Physics at the University of Campinas (UNICAMP), Brazil. PhD in Physics at UNICAMP 2002; postdoc at UNICAMP 2003 and TU Dortmund, Germany 2004/2005. In 2005, he joined the Brazilian Synchrotron National Laboratory (LNLS) to establish a soft X-ray undulator beamline and the Surface Science Group. In 2007, I became an Assistant Professor of Physics at UNICAMP, while maintaining a joint-appointed scientist position at LNLS until 2011. De Siervo’s research focuses on the fundamental aspects of surface physics and chemistry of materials by combining ultrahigh vacuum (UHV) techniques, such as scanning tunneling microscopy (STM), photoelectron spectroscopy, and diffraction (XPS/XPD), and synchrotron-based techniques. His primary interests include model catalysts, 2D materials, and on-surface reactions. He has mentored >15 students (PhD/MSc), 6 postdocs, published >130 peer-reviewed papers, and presented invited talks at >30 international conferences.
