It is a multi-user laboratory with full instrumentation for characterization of systems and devices up to 10 Gbps. Most instruments are computer controlled and can be accessed remotely by WebLab technology. Is connected to KyaTera with 48 pairs of optical fiber linked with almost all the similar laboratories in the State of São Paulo they are used for field testing and collaborative experiments with other groups. Among we have available instruments a 10 Gbps BERT (Bit-Error-Rate Tester), a 50 GHz oscilloscope, optical spectrum analyzers (OSA), Optical Time Domain Reflectometers (OTDR), generator of synthesized signal of 20 GHz, Chromatic Dispersion Analyzer, Electrical Spectrum Analyzer of 30 GHz (ESA), tunable lasers and a C band 32-channel DWDM system. Researchers from several universities regularly use this multi-user facility.

Research in nonlinear optics:

Parametric Amplifier

Wavelength Converters Based on Four Wave Mixing

Exchangers: Exchange of Modulation Signals

Characterization of Optical Fibers and Photonic Crystal Fibers (PCF)
